What are half cell solar panels?

Half-cell solar panels are exactly what their name suggests–traditional solar cells that have been cut in half with a laser cutter. In contrast to the standard modules, which contain 60 or 72 cells, a half-cell module doubles the number of cells to 120 or 144 cells per module. It has the same size as a standard cell module but with half-cut cells. The technology of doubling cells creates more opportunities to grab solar energy from the sunlight and send it in to the inverter.



Benefits of half cut cells

Reducing current and loss: Current density is reduced by 50%, internal power loss is reduced by 25%, and rated output power is increased.


Low shading loss: The split-type module design effectively reduces the current mismatch caused by shadow, and the power output is enhanced.


Lower working temperature: The working temperature of the half-cell modules is 2-3lower than the full-cell modules, greatly ensuring the safe working environment.
